Reviews are in for WET BREAD
Our production of Wet Bread by Tom Glover at the King's Head has been getting some amazing reviews - here's a selection of what the critics are saying:
"The versatility Morag Sims shows is incredible and the ease at which she moves from one accent to the next is both impressive and utterly hilarious" 5 stars, Spy in the Stalls
"Sims is certainly one of the best actors I have witnessed...I applaud her and her director Tom Latter for bringing Tom Glover’s marvellous script to life in a wonderfully comic, clever and beautiful way" Fairy Powered Productions
"It's brilliantly written. Each character has its own voice despite being written as a one-woman show. It reaches the masses no matter what your political views and is an excellent example of modern political fringe theatre." 4 stars, The National Student
"a brilliant comedy performance, [and the] finale is delivered with genuine sincerity .Wet Bread is a lot of fun, but it should also make us stop and think – not about what our political views are, but rather why we have them and how we wield them. The main character may in this case be a leftie, but there’s plenty of entertainment and education in this 60-minute production for audiences of all persuasions." Theatre Things
Wet Bread comes to London this July
10th, 11th & 13th July 8pm
King's Head Theatre
"A tour de farce with heart...wondrously acted"
"Brilliantly written, directed and performed....the perfect remedy to all this political noise"
After some great reviews and audience response from our Brighton Fringe run, Wet Bread transfers to the King's Head, Islington, for 3 nights only this July.
Wet Bread at Brighton Fringe
9th - 14th May 2017
7.40pm @ Sweet Waterfront
Adele can’t work out how the Tories are in power – everyone she knows voted Labour. And don’t get her started on Brexit. It would be much better if the rest of the country just agreed with her. Wielding placards and shouting slogans, she’s dedicated her life to putting things right.
But the moral high ground is lonely with just your outrage for company.
Tom Glover's new play is a biting satire on left-wing activism in a right-wing world. We're delighted to be taking the show to the Brighton Fringe this May - more details on booking tickets will be available nearer the time, but you can always join our mailing list to be kept in the loop about all Sheer Drop activites
Script Reading Service...
We are now offering a script reading service. The service includes reading your play and giving you feedback either in writing or in person, depending on the service you choose. The feedback can be general, covering all main play elements such as structure, character, dialogue, theme, or it can be tailored to your specific needs, such as advice on the ending or a particular scene.
Our main aim as a company is to help, champion and develop new and emerging writers, so we have made our prices competitive and all money generated by this service will go straight back into Sheer Drop’s work developing and producing new plays.
Scripts will be read by Tom Latter, whose experience includes developing and directing new full length plays for Sheer Drop, and dramaturgy, play development, directing, curating and producing new writing projects for Theatre503, as Literary Coordinator.
You will receive a response with notes within 4 weeks. If you are working towards a deadline (such as submitting for a playwriting award or scheme) and time is short, do make that clear and we will do our best to get back to you sooner.
Full script read with written feedback:
Scripts up to 80 pages - £30
Scripts 80-120 pages - £40
